Our Mission Statement

502sports is here to support all athletes and teams from the 502 through our 502sports stories, content, and podcast; especially those who do not receive equal coverage by major outlets. If it’s sports in the 502, it’s on 502sports!

Who We Are

In 2009, while doing broadcast work for the now defunct Louisville Lightning Soccer team, an idea was born to start a platform to cover local sports in the 502. It started with a website, a few social media pages, and two microphones. Since then, 502sports has taken several forms, undergone a few logo changes, and faced starts and stops due to Covid and other life events. Even with these ups and downs, 502sports has remained committed to filling a need in our community. Our passion is covering and celebrating athletes and teams from the 502, especially those who do not receive equal coverage by major outlets.

Our 502sports team will share the amazing stories of athletes and teams representing the 502 and the impact they are having on our community. Join us as we support all athletes and teams from the 502!

The Team

Adam Hitt

Adam Hitt, aka ‘Hitt’, the founder and host of 502sports, started in athletics at an early age. As the story goes, Adam never actually walked as a baby, but one day just stood up and ran. He started playing soccer shortly after at Okolona Soccer Club and never looked back, playing for several club teams and at Trinity High School. He also competed in track in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and relays.

While at Western Kentucky University, he was a walk-on to the Track & Field team, primarily focused on the 200m and 400m. There is not a sport he won’t watch or play, but his first sport love was soccer. He enjoys promoting soccer in the community, previously worked for the Louisville Lighting organization, and coaches high school soccer.

Fun Fact about Hitt: During his graduate program at Aberystwyth University in Wales, Adam played collegiate basketball in the Welsh University Basketball league.

Jimmy Nolan

Jimmy Nolan, aka the ‘No-No’, fell in love with sports at an early age and has been addicted to sports ever since. His mother is from Chicago, and with the TV always on WGN as a kid, there was no doubt he would become a Chicago Cubs baseball fan. This carried over into other sports as well, and out in the wild you may find him wearing a classic ‘Da Bears’ shirt for the Chicago Bears. Jimmy’s father went to Notre Dame, which led him to become a huge Irish football fan.

But his love for sports doesn’t stop there. His brother played soccer and his dad was a coach, so naturally he grew up playing soccer as well. He enjoys watching, playing, and talking about almost every sport, and now he spends much of his time coaching and watching his own 4 kids as they get into sports.

Fun Fact about No-No: In 2002, Jimmy earned a National Championship ring for his broadcast work supporting Jack Harbaugh’s Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team during their incredible run to win the I-AA title over McNeese State.

Adam Wilkinson

Adam Wilkinson, aka ‘Dubs’, grew up in a big sports family where golf was king. As long as he can remember he has been playing and watching golf. So much in fact, when he was a child, Adam’s parents would put his carseat in the golf cart while they both played. His family are also big UofL fans with season tickets to several sports, and he grew up going to lots of basketball and football games. Some of his fondest memories were watching some great games in Freedom Hall.

Anyone who knows Adam can vouch for his borderline obsession with golf and all UofL athletics. Growing up he played many sports including basketball, baseball, tennis, and golf. Today you are likely to find him on the golf course or watching his oldest daughter start trying out new sports.

Fun Fact about Dubs: Based on USGA statistics, only 1% of golfers reach scratch golfer status. It’s a rare feat, but Adam is officially a scratch golfer.

The Producer

Many have tried to determine who the Producer really is, and how he or she came into the 502sports scene. However, all anyone has determined is ‘the producer’ seems to have an influence over all aspects of 502sports content and even sweeping veto power over some of the team’s wildest ideas. While the producer’s identity may never be known, the producer seems to be a crucial member of the 502sports team.
